Time and Distance Problem 8

In this Algebra time and distance problem we have Bill leaving in a vehicle which proportionally increases or decreases its speed depending on how fast the wind is traveling. If the wind is 15 mi/hr coming and going the same distance and it takes him 4 hours going with wind behind him and 5 hours coming back with the wind coming head on, how fast was he coming and going?

Work Problem 3

In this Algebra work word problem, we have pump A that can fill a pool in 12 hours and pump B which can fill the same pool in 6 hours. However, there is also a leak in the pool, and a full pool will empty out in 24 hours. How long would it take to fill the pool if pumps A and B work together and the leak was still present?
